Body pulled from Seekonk River in Pawtucket, R.I., police say

A boater initially discovered the body in the river, according to authorities.

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – A body was pulled from the Seekonk River in Pawtucket on Sunday night, according to police.

Authorities and firefighters responded just after 5:30 p.m. to the area near 21 Division St. along the river, south of Interstate 95, Pawtucket Police Detective Sergeant Theodore Georgitsis wrote in an email on Monday.

“The initial call came from a boater who discovered the body while out on the river,” Georgitsis wrote.

A body was recovered from the water, according to Georgitsis, who did not answer questions about the sex of the body or how the individual died.

“Detectives are furthering the investigation,” Georgitsis wrote.
