‘Paddington in Peru’

Get the family together for another wholesome adventure with everyone’s favorite marmalade-loving bear. This entry in the franchise stars Olivia Colman and Antonio Banderas, with Ben Whishaw back as the voice of Paddington. Globe film critic Odie Henderson gave “Paddington in Peru” 3 stars in his review, praising Whishaw for bringing “Paddington to life in a way that warms the heart.” Available on Netflix

‘Deaf President Now!’

The new documentary “Deaf President Now!” hits Apple TV+ on Friday, looking back on the 1988 protests at Gallaudet University. The Washington D.C.-based university for the deaf and hard of hearing drew the ire of students at the time after it appointed a hearing president over other qualified candidates who were deaf. The ensuing eight days of uproar led to Dr. I. King Jordan becoming Gallaudet‘s first deaf president and opened doors for new legislation in support of deaf and disabled people. ‘The Chi’

Between the popularity of “The Bear” and the appointment of Pope Leo XIV, Chicagoans are getting a lot of love these days. Take a trip to the Windy City with “The Chi,” returning Friday for Season 7 on Paramount+ with Showtime. Focusing on the unexpected connections formed between South Side community members, the show’s new season features Tony winner Phylicia Rashad and Emmy winner Karrueche Tran joining the series in guest roles. Eurovision Song Contest 2025

Move over “American Idol,” because the global phenomenon that is the Eurovision singing competition is finally back. Stateside, Peacock is streaming all the action live from Switzerland. This year’s grand finale is slated for Saturday. Available on Peacock

‘Nine Perfect Strangers’

Before the new installment of “Nine Perfect Strangers” debuts next week, catch up and binge watch the first season on Hulu. Based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, the drama stars Nicole Kidman as Masha Dmitrichenko, the mysterious head of a wellness resort who pushes her guests to the brink with her questionable methods. Former Globe TV critic Matthew Gilbert praised her performance in season 1, writing that the “eight-episode miniseries is Peak Kidman.” Available on Hulu

‘Nope’

Part sci-fi scares, part modern Western, director-writer Jordan Peele pushed the horror envelop with his acclaimed 2022 film “Nope,” which begins streaming on Peacock Sunday. The flick stars Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer as siblings who run a California horse ranch and become embroiled in an otherworldly investigation after a mysterious, cloud-like UFO shows up and causes trouble.
