Police in Cambridge are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred in Harvard Square on Thursday night.
The reported assault occurred in the late evening and extra patrols have been assigned to the area as an “additional precaution,” police said in a statement.
“Preliminary information indicates that the victim was walking in the vicinity of Harvard Square when two unidentified individuals wearing black ski masks and gloves approached and forced the victim into a nearby alley,” police said. “The victim was later transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
“As always, residents are reminded to call 911 immediately if they ever feel threatened or observe any suspicious activity,” police said.
