Red Sox starting pitcher Walker Buehler and manager Alex Cora were ejected in the third inning of Tuesday night’s game against the Mets at Fenway Park.
In a scoreless game, Buehler hit Francisco Lindor with a pitch. Lindor then stole second.
With Juan Soto up, Buehler’s second pitch was clearly a strike before catcher Carlos Narváez threw it to second trying to pick Lindor off. Home-plate umpire Mike Estabrook called it a ball.
Buehler questioned the call, which led to Estabrook coming out from behind the plate. Buehler was ejected a few seconds later and Cora followed soon after.

Cora stayed on the field and tried to get at Estabrook, but was held back by first base umpire Laz Diaz. Cora pushed against Diaz several times.
It was Buehler’s second career ejection. The first was during a game against the Mets in 2021 when he was with the Dodgers.
It was Cora’s first ejection this season and his 18th as a manager.
Brennan Bernardino replaced Buehler.
