A new documentary is in the works about New England native singer-songwriter Noah Kahan.

According to a press release, the Grammy-nominated artist is the subject of a yet-to-be titled project from Live Nation Productions, Federal Films, Polygram Entertainment, and RadicalMedia. Helmed by director Nick Sweeney, the documentary has completed production and is looking for a distributor.

The film will explore Kahan’s ascension from his rural Vermont upbringing to achieving worldwide fame. In addition to looking back at his life and career, the documentary will follow Kahan in the wake of his 2024 headlining tour, which stopped at Madison Square Garden in New York and Boston’s Fenway Park.

The upcoming project will see Kahan travel back to his home state following the conclusion of his tour, offering an “intimate look” at the artist as he “reconnects with the people and places that shaped him, while navigating through life’s challenges and changing relationships,” according to the release.

The documentary will show how Kahan has dealt with his mental health and the pressures of fame, as the singer opens up about struggles he hasn’t previously shared publicly. Kahan has been very open about his mental health in recent years, and in 2023, founded the Busyhead Project, an initiative focused on providing information and resources “to end the stigma around mental health,” according to its website.

Becoming the focus of a new documentary is just the latest big move by the acclaimed singer. In January, Kahan became an investor in TGL’s Boston Common Golf (featuring golf star Rory McIlroy). In October, he teamed up with L.L. Bean for a limited-edition clothing collaboration, and in September, received his own Ben & Jerry’s flavor (he also previously collaborated on a special edition IPA with Two Roads Brewing Company).

Kahan earned a Grammy nomination for best new artist in 2024 and continues to be a fan-favorite for his 2022 breakout album “Stick Season,” which was the fourth-most-streamed album in the US on Spotify last year.
