Alanna enjoys hiking and all things nature

Sunday’s Child is a weekly column featuring a child or teen currently in foster care awaiting adoption.

Alanna is a very warm and nature-loving 17-year-old.

She loves the outdoors and enjoys basketball, hiking, football, and roller skating. She is interested in all things nature-related and wants the family who adopts her to have animals and pets. She also loves music and singing.

Active and energetic Alanna needs to be kept busy and thrives on physical movement. Although she needs a family where she is the only child, she will also need a community where she can interact with other children and not be isolated from them.

In school Alanna receives assistance with staying focused and on task in her classroom from an educational advocate.

Can I adopt?

If you’re at least 18 years old, have a stable source of income, and room in your heart, you may be a perfect match to adopt a waiting child. Adoptive parents can be single, married, or partnered; experienced or not; renters or homeowners; LGBTQ+ singles and couples.

As an adoptive parent, you won’t have to pay any fees, adoption from foster care is completely free in Massachusetts.

The process to adopt a child from foster care includes training, interviews, and home visits to determine if adoption is right for you. These steps will help match you with a child or sibling group that your family will fit well with.
