Ex-Patriot Ty Law is an entrepreneur — and a big-time multitasker

Law was a Hall of Fame cornerback for the Patriots.

As a Patriots player, Ty Law was a ball hawk, swooping down on opposing receivers and snatching what became a team record for the most career interceptions.

Law, now 50, displays some of that same tenacity in his current life. When Law retired, he founded Launch Trampoline Park, a chain of jump spots with locations around Massachusetts. More recently, he entered the spirits business, selling his own line called Corvus Vodka.

Law’s first foray into vodka didn’t pan out. After signing on as an equity partner for a brand called V-One back in 2020, Law and his fellow investors “parted ways amicably.’’

“I fell in love with the business,’’ Law said on a recent phone call, during which he admitted to multitasking by also working out. “I look at it as a 2½-year internship that I learned and studied. I was having a good time, regardless of what was happening or not happening with the partnership. At that point I said I was going to start my own brand.’’

Law’s approach to running his own vodka brand is familiar to anyone who ever watched the Pro Football Hall of Famer play. Law’s followers on Instagram will note his hustle by way of frequent appearances at liquor stores, bars, and restaurants for tastings (including one such appearance at the Hooters in Saugus last week).

“I’m out here pounding the pavement every day,’’ says Law. “I’ve got so much respect for the salespeople that work for these distribution companies to go out there and sell 50 or 100 different brands. And what is going to make yours stand out? I’m gonna hopefully earn that respect by going out there doing the same thing. And I do that daily, I show up.’’

Law’s Corvus Vodka line consists of three brands: original, tropical, and grilled pineapple. Law will tell you his product has never lost a taste test, and he’ll also recommend the original, which is distilled six times, charcoal filtered, and comes in at an approachable price point compared to some premium brands.

The most intriguing flavor is grilled pineapple, which is the one Law says gets the most attention, and is inspired by his days growing up in western Pennsylvania.

“Grilled pineapple was a snack,’’ says Law. “When you grill that pineapple, it changes the whole flavor profile — the nice caramelization, a little more sweetness and not as acidic.’’

In June, former teammates of Tom Brady, including Law, gathered in Foxborough for Brady’s Patriots Hall of Fame ceremony. Law had a signature cocktail made for the event featuring his vodka, amaro, lime juice, and agave syrup.

“What was special to me outside of honoring Tom and being a part of his celebration is all the guys got to reunite again. So many guys from different eras who played with Tom loved Tom,’’ says Law.

Law made good money in the NFL, but in the eras before him, some players were not so lucky. Corvus, which partners with the Pro Football Hall of Fame, contributes sales proceeds to the retirement funds of other Pro Football Hall of Famers.

Corvus Vodka is currently available in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
