Toe to toe with Walpole’s Austin Feener, Milton senior Chase Nixon had one thought in mind during the 4×200-meter relay Saturday: Keep going.

“For a second, I was like ‘Man, this guy’s right [next to me],’ ’’ Nixon said. “But the only thing that goes through my mind is to just run fast.’’

The Wildcats’ relay, consisting of Miles Fergus, Luka Juric, Adrian Pena, and Nixon, beat Walpole by .02 seconds (1:32.24 to 1:32.26), setting the meet record and helping the Milton boys win the MSTCA Division 3 state relays with 50 points at Reggie Lewis Center.

Melrose (44) was second and Billerica (39) was third.

The Wildcats also set a record in the 4×50, won by Zakai Perkins, Nixon, Mikal Holloway, and Jonah Stephens in 22.19 seconds.

“I was worried about them catching me [at the end],’’ Perkins said. “By the time I was close to the line, I realized I couldn’t really hear anybody, so I tried to stay relaxed and fast.’’

With the relay championship under their belt, the undefeated Wildcats prepare to face Walpole during their final Bay State Conference dual meet.

“We just have to keep working hard,’’ Milton coach George Daly said. “We have to let the kids know that they have an opportunity to [go undefeated], and as coaches we’re going to try to maximize our points.’’

Meanwhile, the Billerica girls completed their redemption arc after losing the relays by 1 point last year. The Indians placed first (47 points) and won the distance medley, 4×800, and high jump. Duxbury was second (33) and Amherst-Pelham third (32).

“We’re really happy to have a mix of the field events and the events on the track,’’ Billerica coach Cullen Hagan said. “They know last year we lost by 1, so they really wanted to come in and get the win this year.’’

Hartlie Siegal, Gianna McGowan, and Caitlyn and Kyle Donahue beat their previous best in both the 4×800 (9:40.46) and distance medley (12:42.77) events. Nyrah Joseph shared the gold medal with Nashoba Regional’s Hannah Benoit (1.58 meters) and she placed third in the long jump (5.14).
